I know exactly how you feel Richter. Believe it or not, I have Aspergers too (fun little mental disorder, isn't it?) I'm still personally reeling from the, *Ahem* failure of Guns and Glory 0.5, and that was over two years ago (Never decide to make a contest for your mod and then expect that people will just flow towards it to participate; also take the difficulty down a notch, that alienated a lot of people).

Anyways, I find that taking some time to breathe is a good thing; maybe donate time to other projects. But don't you give up on your mod. You're not making that game for anyone but yourself, understand? Make it because YOU want to; not because you want others to like it; not because you're looking for the approval of others. If you make it and nobody else does, well then, at least one is better than none. You can always depend on yourself.

Over my years, I've forgotten how to make a mod just for myself, and I'm currently trying to re-teach myself to do that again. Maybe it's time you did this yourself as well.

From what I played of G&G 0.5 at the beginning of this year it was pretty neat, I'll admit it was harder in ways that I didn't think were necessary (the health/damage system and aiming/dodging bullets), but it was very different from a lot of stuff out there. I managed to find the contest room too by luck, but being I'm not a mapper (right now) I didn't get much out of it. I really liked the main menu music, what was the source for that?

E: I really liked the secret levels! Those were fun with all the references.

Thanks. I know a lot of people "liked" it because of how everything was done, but I still set the bar too high on how I expected everyone would react to it. I seem to have a problem with making mods that are WAY too hard. The Menu Music is Cid's Theme from Final Fantasy 7.

I had fun making the secret levels. Sort of a nod to my old mods, which were pretty much nothing but references to pop-culture.

G&G 0.5 a failure? It's usually talked of pretty highly as far as I'm aware, and I really enjoyed the mod myself. And Project: X Insurrection looks pretty sweet as well.

Well, that's what I'm sayin' for Richter. These thoughts are all in our heads; our own standards are too high. Gotta take a step back, and love the mods for what they are.

Really the contest idea is where it failed. Hard. Which is why I consider the game in its entirety a "personal" failure. Not necessarily a coherent thought, but with me it's all or nothing (That's just how I roll).

@Richter - Metalor said it best, make mods for your enjoyment of the modding process, that's the main point. If others like it good, if they don't then it's just not to their liking and that's ok, they're entitled to their opinion. As long as you are proud of your work then to be honest, no one else's opinion really matters!

I think part of what's going on is that - since "Project X: I" is so much different than the typical Wolf3D mod - people's reactions to it will be unpredictable.

I imagine that would scare some people, but I see personally see no reason to be afraid. Rather, it simply gets me even more interested in the project than I would be otherwise. It almost guarantees a different reaction from each and every person who plays it, so you learn more about those people when they try out the game. You also learn about yourself, too. It's not like you're building a nuclear bomb or something. You're simply making a submission into the world of entertainment. Smile

Everyone i do wana say i'm sorry i was having one of my Anxiety Attacks i do that alot I know it's unhealthy.

Also, I do have a YouTube Let's Play account so if i make a Trailer to the mod I'll get Judged easily but eh their lost lol

I still have a Strong feeling about my Mod until I've haven't giving up so easy I just haven't Found more Help tho (with my other Mod Wolf of Rage since it uses 128x128 maps ). I can't map, I can't do Art the only thing I'm good is coding thats all tho..

WSJ who is doing Chapter 5 Quit Mapping for that chapter do to life and stuff...

soo now Chapter 5 is up for grabs Anyone wants to fill in for WSJ? its only 4 more maps to go tho in that Chapter.

Man its very hard to get this game out huh? lol

its been close to 6 years since I've started Project: X Insurrection and the game is slowly inching its way out, but I've been hiting speed bumps like my Let's Play Channel, Life, work, going to meet my Girlfriend or anything else its really putting the pressure on me.

Also I'm not going to Cancel the game at all no no no not by a long shot lol, But there is one things I wana give out to the community here...I'm giving up my Lost World Series Mods to someone else...i was thinking of giving the Series Reboot to WSJ, Doomjedi but i have little to no intrest in making a part 2 or a 8 as promise since i'm more into making Project: X, Wolf of Rage, and my soon-to-be-announce survival horror (maybe).

Is anyone still waiting on this mod to be finished, i don't want to dissapoint every single one of you guys at all I am giving my all on this mod and its really putting the pressure on me sadly.

Its too far into the project to give up and I won't be giving up this easily. Mapping is holding me back and the only Achilles Heel I have is finding mappers. Still This mod...Is my chance to shine and be proud of. Mod after Mod that I've been releasing all ranged to sucks, to mediocre, to Meh never a Great or a mod to remember for new wolfers. have you guys ever feel something like when your soo close to release the game your worried and feared that it may turn out to be disappointing, This is what i'm kinda feeling a bit right now as soon I and others are getting very close to Finally releasing this mod

Depending on how much of a perfectionist you are, the last part of making a mod can be both frustrating and satisfying. As far as I'm concerned, I just think you should release this when you feel it's ready for it, no hangups. These days I think it will be played right off, as it's not as if there's a new mod coming out all the time. It looks interesting, heavy coding has been your forte the past many years, so in that department I think it will work out fine - and mapping has improved as well in your mods for a good while now. So I'm looking forward to seeing what you've come up with this time... The latest screenies look very atmospheric, very bloody and slightly gothic but not in the fashion sense lol. More in the vein of Doom with a twist of a more down to earth feel.

If the mod does for you what you feel it should, that's really what's important. There's always going to be someone out there who just doesn't get what the mod is about. But don't let that phase you; it's just the way modding is. Smile

Bad news Bad news, No the game isn't cancelled its just been sooo super slow, Been trying to get a hold on the mappers for the past month sadly this mod wont be out this year maybe next year I don't know and I have one other mod in dust at the moment since I can't seem to find a mapper to do 128x128 Maps, I know its hard to do but its the first of my mod to do big maps but I don't know how well it turns out.

I know this topic won't be getting comments but I'll say this tho, I really enjoying making this Mod I want to end it off with a bang showing If you can put your mind to it you can accomplish anything, Thank you to all the people in this forum that helps me to continue to push this mod even tho My mapping talent sucks since my mind can't think of anything. And some of the people who hates my guts and my mods I still thank you its been pushing me to prove some people wrong in modding lol But I digress

Anyways Thank you All for being patience I promise to get this done by next year or soo I don't know.

I guess my first question would be: do you REALLY need 128x128 maps?

Seeing that this is another 60 level game (at least that is what I have been reading), like your previous Project X mod, I certainly hope you aren't intending to have ALL the maps be 128x128. Just my opinion, but I think people would not be too keen on playing a 60 level mod where all or most of the levels are 128x128. Granted, I have enabled the ability to use 128x128 maps for BTG, but only a few levels are that large, and there's only 18-20 levels total.

On another note, I think you really are underestimating your mapping ability. You really should try. The way I see it: if you can't find anyone to help you with mapping, you just have to suck it up and do it yourself, even if the result is not as good as you anticipated. Sad

I have had to settle for less on a lot of things when it comes to BTG because I can't find the help or the people I do get to help me end up flaking because quite frankly they are busy and have better things to do, which is completely understandable. Modding Wolfenstein is, after all, something we do mainly for recreation and not a paid income.

I was referring to my Other Mod that I'm working on called Wolf of Rage which has 8 levels Project: X 2 is still 64x64

I know I'm going to give it my all tho with the mapping....
