This looks really original. love the greyscale status bar a lot. plus with the atmosphere that the screenshots have this will be great! I'm glad to see somebody not making WWII mods to start out. If you ever need somebody to help test, I'd love to Smile

I could definitely use beta testers, as I don't even want to officially release a Demo until I think things are as close to perfect as possibile. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you the work-in-progress sometime in the near future. Smile

I don't think you should reveal maps to just all people, it's a spoiler....you need a "limited" beta-testing/feedback group.

For my beta testers, and those still curious about this project, I should have a beta version, featuring 6 of the 30 levels in the game, prepared sometime in the next week (been really busy with work). Sad Until then, here's a few more screenshots. Smile

Very nice Cemerery theme, Great looks.
HUD weapons look great as well

P. S. Advice - don't post too many screenshots unless they are of simular themes and not too-revealing. Leave suprises for the player to discover.

It does look really pretty. I'm very excited about this mod.

Can I ask something though?

Would you consider releasing your mod as 'episodes' of, say, 10 levels each? One of the things about the Wolf scene that I've noticed is that a fair percentage of modders make quite big mods which not only take a lot of time to create but also a long time to play through. I really wish there were more small projects with a little more variety. I think it would help keep the community going - getting tasty little snacks every so often rather than the occasional really big meal (I know, it's a terrible analogy!). Majik hit the nail on the head with his OMS trilogy in my opinion. It kept me coming back for more and kept the level of anticipation for the next episode really high.

I realise it's your project and I appreciate that but I just wanted to make the suggestion. Smile

@DoomJedi: As always, thanks for the advice. The screenshots are only from certain parts of the first level. So, I don't think I'm revealing too much. Smile

@Per-Scn: I value your insight and I completely understand where you are coming from, but I have Beyond the Grave structured in a way that's more suited for a longer mod (I don't think it will takes years though like some bigger projects) and I should have a demo-version released soon hopefully. By all means, it may not even be thirty levels, but maybe something more to the tune of twenty levels--it all depends on how I feel as the project progresses. I have a lot that I'm putting into this mod, so it shouldn't be lacking in variety. Very Happy

I should note that my project after BTG, which will be an Ancient Greek first-person-slasher, I plan to release in short segments like the Mutant Strike games.

I'm pretty sure it's "Incognito"... Don't believe that's a word that can be plural.

Yeah I used to go by ThunderlordJemanie, solely as that was a character in my games and stories I patterned off myself. No offense man but when I hear ThunderEnema that only reminds me of Die Hard With A Vengeance, "My name is Zeus! Father of Apollo! Don't **** with me or I'll shove a lightning bolt up your ass!". Very Happy lol

Quite simply, ThunderEnema e-mailed me asking for some help creating an account here, in which I had to contact RonWolf to resolve the issue, and some advice on making Wolf3D mods.

I hadn't worked on that in a LOONNNNGGGGGGGGGG time, man. With the amount of time it'd take to get it up to my standards, I'm not sure it'd be worth it. I mean, yeah I came up with what I thought were cool ideas but then I'd have to implement them and design all those levels and after the rudeness, flaming, not to mention the annoying "I know it's your game and you released it already but I would've done it like this" of certain people it's like, "... Meh." Confused

Like I said, "I'm much happier writing, and playing video games is a better use of my time than making them." Smile

Looks good, I see a lot of potential for a really great mod here, I know it's still fairly early in the overall development scheme of things but so far so good!

If I might add my two cents here, the only thing that seems a bit out of place is the character portrait, it still looks very much like BJ. This isn't a big deal if the vampire protagonist is meant to somehow be related to BJ, but otherwise, you've gone to great effort to make the mod look like something other than Wolf3D, the portrait might benefit from a bit more editing or a complete overhaul. Just my opinion!

@Majik Monkee: Thank you for comments! It is really great hearing feedback from the creator of one of my favorite mods: HOS. Smile

As for the BJ portrait, the reason I haven't made any drastic changes, aside from changing his hair to black and making his skin-tone paler is because I am not really that great of an artist. Like I said I am more of a writer/musician/level-design guy, but I have came in contact with some very talented people on here who have offered to help, so who knows, it may change.

Though I must say, the idea of the protagonist somehow being related to BJ does give me some new story ideas. Very Happy

Like you mentioned too, there are a lot of talented folks here, though some don't come on too often, it's possible someone would be willing to help create a new portrait for you. For that matter, if you have a rough idea of what you would like it to look like, I would be willing to play around with it a bit if you needed. Smile
