What do you people think of this map? It is a work in progress. I am going to fine tune the purple area.

What effect does it cause when so many moving actors are directed to the starting point? That might be interesting. I see 2 west moving actors at the bottom with no turning points. Also, it looks like you have a deaf guard code where a static object is (the one with the green floor code).

A lot of it looks fairly solid, but I think the blue hallway will be a bit frustrating to play. After the first couple of doors the idea will be fairly stale moving forward, and being in a straight hallway with no room to maneuver means that retreat would be incredibly unwise (likely resulting in the player getting caught on a door while taking fire) and taking cover is impossible as there is no cover to take- the only course of action would be to open the door and unload the firearms onto the guards immediately and hope they don't manage to get a shot off, which relies very little on skill and may get either boring or frustrating quickly.

Other than that point of criticism it looks very interesting indeed. I especially like the grey brick area with the partitioned vestibule area which will make strategizing the attack on that large group of officers very tricky.

Elevated Planes Test Video

Not anywhere near perfect, and theres some graphical glitches with the billboard mask sprites at distances, but now we are getting somewhere.

I completed one 256-color palette that should translate without problems to Wolf4SDL and its predecessors. It's basically just a collection of "life-like" colors, but the red shading kept coming out too subdued in the past. It turns out that red, green, and blue all follow different rules of contrast when you try to give them "true" life-like shading.

The only catch to using this palette is that all shades of water are missing. If you use the shades of blue I provide, it'll look like the wells are filled with blue paint. Laughing

That sounds great, Tricob! That could be a very useful feature for a lot of modders, too.

I am working on Grosse Definitive Edition Wolfenstein 3D modification right now. It is going to be one level and be similar to episode 1 level 9 of Wolfenstein 3D.

Let me know where I can upload it; I fixed the shading of the red, and that freed up some slots in the palette, so maybe the shades of water are going to make it in there after all. Smile

A new WDC tileset for Wolfenstein Missions. I might make a WL6 version of this too.

Looks like a combination of E5L6 and E6L8. Don't know whether that's intentional or not.

The map is one of the Wolfenstein Missions First Encounter levels (2-3) that have already been released; what I wanted to show was the new tile art in WDC.

I've been working on an update for my Hallowein patch for SDL. Three new levels (total 13). The three maps are almost done. Added some new walls and sprites, actors. I need to find music and work on the sound effects. I don't think it'll be done by halloween.

That's good news, Biergut Smile I composed a handful of tunes for Wolf3D, and you might find "There's Trouble Ahead" to be a proper Halloween inclusion. I also might find this mod excuse enough to compile "Monster" into IMF form and release that as well.

That would be great. Where can I get "There's Trouble Ahead"? When you say "Monster" - I thought of the Steppenwolf tune of that name. Right now I only have one tune out of thirteen for sure and that's "Sleep Dirt" (Frank Zappa).

That's quite a good piece for video game ambience; It would suit a Hallowe'en map perfectly!

It can be found in the newest versions of the MMC releases, but I'm afraid I can't remember which slot in AUDIOT it's saved at. To hear what that track in particular sounds like, I suppose you'll have to download my SDL version of "Operation: Kill BJ!" and use the pre-saved game for E6L8.

"Monster" was one woman's secret nickname for her abusive husband. Her first name was Daphne, and everyone called her Dottie. She was the leading character in the novel I've been writing. Over half the novel takes place in The Great Depression, so it develops a very dark tone.

If you PM me an E-Mail address, I can forward the current version in FLAC, OGG, or MP3 form. Keep in mind that the String Arrangements still suffer from volume issues at one point in the tune, so it's not really the final version.

Update on Hallowein v3: I have all of the music pretty much finished for all 13 levels. I mostly need to work on the sound effects right now. After that, a few map tweaks and I'm thinking about a release in early October.

Love the indoor tiles on the top and bottom. The outdoor lamps also add a very nice touch in the scene they appear in.
