Hey, on Moddb there's a new mod by fraggeur, 'Wolf Island'

30 levels, looks like a lot of care went into it. DOS-based (no SDL), but comes packaged with DOSBox so you just have to click a bat file and you're good to go.

The screenshots look quite good! Love some of the design choices: the tropical island setting, the usage of floor and ceiling colors. Nice mix of old school and new graphics. Smile

Hi,

Haha I was precisely about to create a topic for this.
It is actually a project I started years ago, when SDL was less a standard. It allowed me to learn code editing on the original wolf3d source... It is a little old fashioned for a 2013 mod but I hope it is part of its charm too.

I haven't found patience to play each level in speedrun mode to set par-times, so if somebody wants to establish references I will include them in a next release.

Any comments or questions are welcome.

Any plans to release the source code in the future? I'm sure more than one Wolfer is willing to port this to SDL for you. Smile

This does indeed look like a load of fun. It's always great to know of mods outside our two online communities... I wonder if there are more out there...

Quite tough this mod, I play on the easiest skill and a guard attacking me just did some big damage. I like the old school feel of this mod; the colored floor/ceilings, the unconvential shapes of rooms, but it also makes the whole feel a bit messy. Walls that look out of place in between other walls and such.

It was not planned but I am not against releasing the source code Smile

About the toughness - in fact the yellow artifact potentially reduces the damage taken by 2, just like the standard easy mode. To avoid ending with a ridiculous factor of 1/4, I removed this feature. Therefore I suspect the first two difficulty levels are the same (play the second one you will get more points).
