As far as I can tell, this is a legitimate port someone is working on.

At the time of this post, the current version is found here. But you'll need a Genesis/Mega Drive emulator to run it (I prefer Fusion/Kegs).

Thanks. Smile I was trying to find information on why the Genesis version of Wolf3D was cancelled, and found this instead. Did find a post by a user that said Sega was focused on the 32X and Sega CD consoles, and couldn't be bothered anymore with a Wolfenstein 3-D port to the Genesis. Couldn't confirm that though, and makes me wonder why a 32X Wolf3D never made it to development. But my guess is that by the time the 32X Wolf3D option was open, a Doom port was in far greater demand (which did in fact happen).

Edit: Unlike the DOS version, the port seems to cap the frame-skipping rate below 10 (The cap seems to be 6). This definitely makes the game much more playable when the framerate lags. Good thing, too - as the window size can't be changed. *Really* don't like those blue-green plants and ceiling lights, though. Razz

From what I can tell with the cancellation of the official port of Wolf 3d, was it was still going to be censored, only there would be blood in the game again. It was cancelled probably because Doom was not yet ported to SNES, and Sega wanted the upper hand, so focus was put onto it.

The game has now been updated to the Beta 10.6 version. Included is a Saved Games feature, and Hans Grosse from Episode One is now functional. I beat the 10.5 release, and in that version, both him and the SS are missing their "loading weapon" frame. I really wasn't prepared for this when fighting Hans, and he kicked my a-- three times in a row before I finally showed him what's for. Very Happy I look forward to see this project grow and develop into something marvelous. Too Cool

As of December 11th, the game has been updated again. This fixes frame display issues related to the Episode One boss (which I mentioned in my last post), among other things. The author said he's doing some sort of "Mode 7" experiment which is supposed to improve how the game performs. I couldn't quite understand all the details he gave about this, but I am interested in seeing what comes about in his experimenting. Smile

I think he made a video that showed how many objects the levels could have without crashing on Genesis, and it was really impressive.

Although it remained without updates for some time, the Genesis version has indeed been updated lately.

This is cool but seems like a lot of work for what I imagine to be a pretty limited audience. On the other hand, the same could be said of PC Wolf modding I guess. Smile

I played through this. Other than some slightly off colours it is very nice. I kinda wish someone would use it as a base for an original Genesis first-person shooter.

There's a Genesis game with a similar engine called "Zero Tolerance". In fact, it's probably what drew Sega away from the Wolf3D Genesis port in the first place.

Yeah I tried it. Turning speed was way too slow for my taste.

There is a better version, but itís more complicated to use. Chilly Willy made a 32x port that looks and plays pretty damn close to the original. Only thing is, if you want music you have to have it burned to a cd and playing in the sega cd at the same time, and then if you wanna use the registered version of Wolfenstein instead of the shareware you have to compile it yourself with this wonky tool chain Iíve never been able to get to work hahaha. But if you can get it to compile you can get this to work with all episodes of wolf and sod as well (I imagine also the lost episodes)
