As the title implies: which combination of wall textures (in the original Wolf3D) is not used that often, even though they go together quite well?

Anything with stained glass Hitler, really... Sometimes people use the gray stone/eagle texture also, but I wouldn't use it personally. I am mainly fond of placing textures close together that contrast, e.g. red/blue, green/yellow and so on.

Yellow slime gray walls with the brown marble walls.

My vote goes to the horizontal blue panelling and the "grey with moss" walls.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I guess there isn't a lot of unexplored territory when it comes to wall combinations in the original Wolf3D, but these are interesting. Especially slimey walls + brown marble is not something I have used together often, so that may go into a map of mine.

Purple stone/brown stone and softwood/steel panel, maybe? Some really odd pairings. Bringing in the Spear walls would be even crazier, with the blood wall and all.

Or stained glass with purple cornfield texture maybe, lol.

That looks quite good, actually! Mr Green Purple brick + stained glass is actually a combination in SoD I quite like. Purple brick in general is quite underused and a bit underrated, really.

I don't know, dude. There are times I despise the purple brick, but other times I enjoy it. If it had a better and slightly brighter sheen it would be charming enough to at least use in more lightweight situations. I don't expect to find a Hitler/Himmler bunker showdown where you have 14 weapons and a trillion guards trailing you, all decorated in the jolly old purple brick.

I always hated all purple textures. Really made it cartoony for me. Me, I like the wood panels and SOD brown brick textures the best as a combination.

I don't know, for me 64x64 graphics are sorta cartoony now anyway, so I just embrace the colorfulness. Mr Green

There are some shades of purple in the Wolf3D palette that look very good, but Id very often went for the pink-ish parts of the palette instead, such as SOD's purple bricks or the purple walls you first see in E1L10. It seems the better shades of purple in the palette were only put in when most of the wall graphics were done, and they didn't update the older walls to see if it worked better. It's a shame, IMO.

Wooden Panels go perfectly with other wood textures.

I like purple brick in small doses, usually paired with the purple stone w/slime. It has to be done in levels where it fits the theme of the map though and not used too often.

Personally one of my favorite combinations is the brown cobblestone from SOD combined with the beige paneling.
