Hello. I found the disk images online, but they are corrupted. Does anyone have a site they can point me to to get them uncorrupted? I know it is the same as the DOS version, I just want it for collecting purposes. I am looking at purchasing it also, but an original will not work with an emulator. Hence the need for the disk images.

Thank you in advance,

Blacklion

Or if anyone has the source code, that would be awesome.

Maybe I'm asking for the wrong thing. I would like to be able to look at the maps, sprites, etc to compare them with the original. The best way to do this usually, is to use an emulator to run the game or extract the files, like the PC-98 version.I assume that since the source code for this version was released (haven't found it, btw), it should not be a copyright issue.
Any help, or a response, would be appreciated, as there doesn't seem to be a lot of info out on this version of the game.

Thank you to everyone,

James

I would, though, be interested to hear if there are any differences.

Hello, all. Wow, a lot has happened. I found an email address for Eddie Edwards, the gentlrman that converted Wolf 3d from DOS to the Acorn/Archimedes. I took a chance and emailed him. He replied that the versions are identical, and although the PowerSlave version had copy protection, the Risc World volume 9, issue 1 disk does not. He did release the source code, but it has dissapeared. He sent me a zip file, with the source code, and documents. I will try to upload it here.

I do need some assistance with the following items:
The source files are in .arc format. If anyone can please extract the files from the .arc format and upload them, that would be great.

Eddie asked that I fix the Wikipedia page to point to the source files, but I don't know how to do that.

If anyone can get an image of the game from the RiscWorld disc, please upload it as well.

Thank you to the community for the help.

James, The Blacklion

Hmmm, I don't see how to attach a file here, I will ask Adam if I can email it to him if he can post it.

There are at least three ARC formats I know of. There's the first ARC executable for DOS, there's PKUNARC from PK-Ware, and there's an ARC format used in some Windows extractors. It suspect that uses the DOS ARC format, and tacks on extra things to make it work with LHA files and large archive files.

You should be able to find something that will be able to open an ARC file, it'll just be finding one that knows how to open the specific ARC version (Wikipedia seems to suggest that PKUNPAK should do it). If you can find somewhere to host the source, you should just be able to add a section linking to it in the Wikipedia page for Wolf3D ports, or I can do it if you like. The RiscWorld disc image might be a little difficult to find.

It's a SparkFS file, which seems to be Acorn-specific.

Nothing to update on this topic. I have the RiscUser disks, but can't seem to get them to unpack. Was hoping for a better result.

I don't know if this was already known, but Mr. Lowe's site has always had an Acorn/Archimedes section:

http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~brlowe/info2.htm

He says the debug code is '-legalize_marijuana'. Very Happy I thought I read that the SS gave 8 bullets, maybe that was a different port.

Looks neat how the border flashes green, yellow, blue and salmon during actions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iURLjmpyrvI

I believe this is in reference to a DOS-based computer virus called "Stoned" ... with a spelling correction. Smile
