In 2003, Mars was the closest that it had been to Earth in 50,000 years.

Once every 13 to 16 years, we can see the silhouette of Mercury going across the Sun. This happened in the May 9 news and is what this May 10th article is talking about: http://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasas-kepler-mission-announces-largest-collection-of-planets-ever-discovered
There are over 3,200 known planets & 1,284 of them have been discovered by The Kepler Satellite. You might like to watch this video:

or

I thought that planet Gliese 581g, if it exists, is Earth-sized, & is in the habitable zone around a star.

You might like Carl Saganís Cosmos or Neil Degrasse Tysonís Cosmos. Or you might like the Science Fiction movie Contact: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118884/

Thereís going to be a telescope more powerful than Hubble. I thought that itís called the James Web telescope. It will orbit on the far side of the Moon with less interference from Earth.

EDIT: In todayís news: http://www.universetoday.com/128836/thanks-comet-pluto-solar-system-nomenclature-needs-major-rethink/ My suspicion is almost confirmed that Pluto is a burned out comet. Itís small like a comet, has an ellipsoid orbit like a comet, has an orbit that isnít flat like the 8 historical planets, & is far from the Sun like a comet.
