I have just noticed that there seems to be a rather absurd private message limitation. The mailbox is limited to twenty messages in the inbox, and TEN in the inbox. I only noticed that when I tried to check something I said earlier, only to see that half of my messages are gone. Is there actually some necessity for this limit (I don't think so?), or is it just something left over from the days when mp3s took hours to download? I would really like to not have this limit. I'm about to send a PM and I think I'm gonna copy my oldest sent message and save it as a text file or something, because I don't like losing things for no good reason.

Not to be rude, but I think you need to step back a moment and realize that this site is paid for out of pocket. These services you enjoy come at a price, and these limitations don't exist for "no reason." They cost money. Money that one person is dishing out monthly so you can enjoy the privileges we offer here. So if you really don't want to lose those precious private messages, I would kindly ask you help with the financial burden. Smile Pizza

What I perhaps didn't realize is that a bunch of text files could still make enough difference in this day and age that restricting their amount on a mildly popular forum would make a noticeable financial difference. So is there some donation option here?

Just get a hotmail or gmail account. They're free, and competing with each other to advertise to you! lol. And delete your old messages after you reply. 10 is sloppy! Who is sending you 10 messages at a time and why wasn't I invited to the party? Laughing

Seriously though, a donation option would be nice.

Well, I don't want to be rude either, but I tend to agree with Military.
What you are speaking of was valid 15 years ago. Now this forum is outdated, that's it. Same goes for the avatar restriction or some other things.

This being said, I don't want to offend anyone, and thanks to BrotherTank and others to maintain this forum (technically and financially). I know it is easier to criticize and do nothing to help (just like me). But please also recognize that Military is not totally wrong regarding the old mooded policies and constraints.

Aha, I get it! The limit is 30 in your Inbox and always was, like I thought. I gave Military the benefit of the doubt thinking he wrote inbox twice by mistake. NOT THE CASE. He was intentionally trying to mess with our heads! 20 inbox + 10 inbox = 30 inbox.

It's because the sent messages folder is not called "outbox" like everywhere else, which is weird and messed with my head and I ended up writing inbox twice. And I wasn't sure about the inbox limit, because I hit the sent messages limit but not the received ones limit.

Now that I remembered that the content of received PMs is emailed to me, the inbox limit is not an issue. Now, if only the messages I send could be emailed to me to, I would have no issues whatsoever.

Not having the messages I sent. The only places I've seen it being a thing is Tumblr fan mail system and real life snail mail. Friggin realism.
