I hope Nintendo will relaunch the SNES and include the SNES censored Wolfenstein 3D as a built in game.

A lot of fond memories of this console. Very cool that it returns.

I'm all for this release, but it's odd that Super C is included but not Contra, its predecessor. Note also that the article lacks proofreading; how hard is it to spell "Ghosts n' Goblins"?

This is really cool. $59.99 (+$9.99 for a 2nd controller) sounds like a decent affordable price too for what you get.

Joshua, I think that you’ll like to watch this:

Amazing & cute!

I think that I can infer that 8 Eyes & Castlevania 3 might not work for it because they have incompatible built-in chips & Castlevania 3 has a different editor? The reviews of 8 Eyes weren’t good anyways.

"Mig-29: Soviet Fighter" has given me problems with every emulator because of its obscure mapper. I was never able to play it myself until I plugged it into a real NES. If you want to truly test an emulator's compatibility, Mig-29 would be the first cart I'd choose.

Yesterday, I dreamt I was playing a mini-NES & mini-SNES in a store until the workers told me to leave because the store is closing for the night. Maybe I dreamt of it because of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOmEB6zGIT8

I found the new selections kind of disappointing. No Dig Dug, no Galaxian, and no Magical Doropie.

Just feels like they're trying to sell us back our nostalgia which is an easy buck. Sure it's better than emulators, but this also feels a couple years too late to me.

This person said that you may use a certain kind of Wii Classic Controller, Wii Classic Controller Pro, or third part controller for The NES Classic Edition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaGDPM44-N0 . It reminds me that you can use a Sega Controller for The Atari 2600.

Anyone here having trouble getting one?

The Walmart I work at only got 6, SIX total (a single box). They sold out at midnight, and we ordered over 100 more, but are waiting for the shipment. Weird thing is, we only sold 5. One is missing, either one of the managers forgot to put it back when they were using the UPC data to order more, or there is some sort of internal theft going on.

Strangely, the Gamestop next door also only got 6, and sold out and had to order more too.

Yep ... the video link I provided gripes about such a problem. Nintendo has made this sort of move before, and it played out terribly. I'm aware of situations where a company has made far more copies of a system than will ever be sold, but this is just cutting corners too far in.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that. The graphics chips the games use are often part of the cartridge, not the SNES itself. Add to that, emulating the sound is a nightmare. You can have Starfox sound awesome and everything else sound like a worn-out Yamaha, or the other way around. Even if you use real hardware instead of emulation, it's just not a simple process.

Still, I'd have quite a blast to play a game I translated a few years back.

I'm watching Youtube videos about how The NES Mini will be discontinued very soon if it isn't already. Somebody has an opinion that it's a business decision that Nintendo thinks that it's distracting people a little bit from buying the Nintendo Switch? I don't actually have a Nintendo Switch, NES mini, Wii U, or Wii. I hear that there's a virtual console on the Wii U, Wii, and possibly the GameCube where you buy NES or SNES games for download.

The NES Mini was never supposed to be a long-term thing, and its non-expandability is proof of that. But I still thought it was a little early to pull the plug on it. Even Nintendo acknowledged that not everyone would get an NES Mini that was wanting one. Shouldn't that tell you that maybe you should sell it a little longer, or release an upgraded version of the same thing?
