Few days ago one of or the most popular gaming magazine (CD Action) in Poland released part two of Retro edition. It contains descriptions of old fps including Wolfenstein and couple mods for it ^^
I know its just a short mention but heck, you can buy this book all over Poland for about 2 euro so i guess its pretty cool to be in it ^^
Congratulations Very Happy

Here is photo of cover page of it and page with Wolf mods, below i translated the text into English.

ECWolf
Incredibly expanded sourceport (that means moving original code to new platforms) for Wolf, which allows not only to play classic campaign on Windows, Mac OS X or Linux, but also gives couple "futuristic" possibilities to the modders.

Operation Serpent
Year 1989, on a tiny island on Mexico coast Maria Cortez has been deported, a spy with the task to take down dictatoship of white "patriots". Huge levels, great graphics and a catchy heavy metal soundtrack make this mod a must play.

Splitwolf
Great port allowing to play Wolf on a split screen, even for four players, in nine different modes (ex. disarming time bombs, fighting undead army, collecting souls). Great for a veterans party!

Spear Resurrection
A real classical mod from 2001 year, made by authors to be a sequel for Spear of Destiny. The war has ended but Spear of Destiny again has fallen into hands of madmen! More than 20 new missions, two new weapons, new enemies and unique "artifacts" allowing teleportation or giving temporary invincibility. There is also a sequel - End os Destiny - even harder and more complex.

Operation Eisenfaust: Origins
Perhaps the most advanced mod based on Wolfenstein code. Blazkowicz gets to a secret camp, which is known only for horrifying human experiments. Unfortunately, he becomes victim himself... Mod contains new game mechanism (weapon reloading, sniper rifle, portable health, cannons which can be used!) and a absolutely terrifying, gloomy atmosphere.

Witching Hour
Survival horror made by some creative polish girl. Your car got screwed, just when you were driving through a forest. Will you fix it on time, before the creepy secret hiding between woods gets to you? You can also play it on Dreamcast console and Android. Worth it!

lol I actually translated it myself >< article contains quite some expressions that are bit hard to translate directly. So might sound bit weird at times ^^' Like "polish girl", you have "polak" which means Pole (like yea, person from Poland) and you have "polka" which is same but female version so "polish woman".
Polish is Slavic language quite different from English ^^'

Too bad you couldn't see me sprint to buy this thing immediately after reading the thread. The cover art alone (and the back cover, heh) makes it worth the price. Considering the content, it's priceless. About the Wolfenstein mods part, congratulations for having your work featured. Shame they couldn't mention something like Project Weltuntergang as another Polish contribution to the modding scene, but I guess there's only so much space you can dedicate to user mods for a single game. I'm glad they mentioned our little community in the first place.

I also don't see much wrong about Atina's translation, except maybe using the word "busted" instead of "screwed" could fit this particular phrase better. Oh well,
at least there was no Polish-specific 90s computer game slang involved. That would be impossible to properly reproduce in English.

(On a more personal note, CD Action was an important part of my adolescence, and seeing some names who put their pen to paper in this issue really brings a nostalgic tear to my eyes... Gonna have a lot of fun reading this later today)

That cover alone would be worth a purchase. :p

Maybe the new wolfenstein announcement brought the series - including the classic and its mod - back into spotlight for the time being.

There was also the word "some" in the preceding sentence. I believe "unknown" or "aspiring" would've been more appropriate. "Some" - in most cases - is not only informal in the extreme, but it can also be borderline disrespectful if not used properly, like "Some has-been sitcom star did a twerking video, then claimed it was most awe-inspiring moment since the signing of the Declaration Of Independence". OK, that makes sense. Didn't even consider that. It's one of these context-based details that a non-native speaker can easily skim over, especially considering English is easy to get a basic grasp of, yet very flexible and intricate at the same time.

Hah I can imagine it ^^ when I got the info I spammed news to friends to go and buy it. I got myself 2 copies ^^

If they would wanna write just about mods it would take way more space but I am still happy from just that short note ^^

Getting bit offtopic ><

Some is neutral word. It means same as "someone", in polish text meaning is "someone from poland" just issue is that someone is a girl and english doesn't have female version of "someone" so it can be either "some girl" or "some guy".
"Unknown" doesnt fit because it means someone not famous. "Aspiring" is also off. Rather "a girl" then.

I don't think that in sentence "Some (good) soul paid money annonymously to charity." "some" has a negative meaning. It depends on context =p

It's really cool to see Operation Serpent appear in print. Hopefully this will net me a few more downloads.

Really nice to see recognition, especially for such recent-ish mods too like Operation Serpent and Atomprojekt. I know the community is small and Wolf modding is niche but it's definitely appreciated to see acknowledgement like this in the media.
